Caribbean Resorts Offering Romantic Retreats

The Caribbean remains the ultimate romance destination, where miles of sandy white beaches, lush rainforests and soothing sunsets over brilliant blue waters create picture-perfect settings for loving couples.

Travelers heading to the region for destination weddings or simply for intimate getaways for two will find several top Caribbean resorts offering romance-oriented travel packages that feature reduced rates plus upgraded services and amenities.

For example, couples who book a wedding at Beaches Resorts or Sandals Resorts properties in Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Antigua, the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos, Grenada or Barbados will receive a combined $1,500 in credits in the WeddingMoons program.

The offer is available to altar-bound couples who book stays of six nights or more beginning Sept. 1, 2014. The package combines a $500 wedding credit with a $500 bonus credit and an additional $500 credit toward items in Sandals’ Amoro jewelry collection.

Couples can use the $500 credit to upgrade elements of the complimentary “Beautiful Beginnings” packages and the online “Wedding Designer” customized packages. The $500 bonus credit can be redeemed on facilities and services including private beach cabanas at the resort, room upgrades, activities including scuba diving and catamaran cruises or wedding ceremony minister and government fees. The offer applies to travel through Dec. 31, 2016.

For couples simply seeking a romantic getaway, the echoes of romance are also offered at the eight properties in Marriott’s Caribbean and Latin America Resorts collection.  An “Ultimate Romance Package” for two is available for couples’ bookings through Dec. 19, 2014 and features breakfast for two, champagne, a resort dining credit, one couples’ spa treatment and late check-out. Rates start at $179 and vary by resort.

The participating properties include the CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort, CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa; Curacao Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino; Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort; Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort ; JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa and the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino.

In addition, the Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino is offering a “Honeymoon Bliss” packages with rates starting at $496, double occupancy. The packages combine deluxe oceanview accommodations with access to complimentary food and beverage at the resort’s premium Tradewinds Lounge, breakfast in bed, bubbles and strawberries in room upon arrival, late check-out and upscale room amenities. Packages are available through Dec. 19, 2014.

Destination wedding groups seeking a small-scale but exclusive Caribbean option can book oceanfront sister villas at Anguilla’s Beaches Edge Villas complex . The villas are located in Pelican Bay and offer panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and St. Martin. The oceanfront sister villas can be rented together to create a 10-bedroom, secluded hideaway for destination wedding parties. Travelers who book stays of six nights or more through Aug. 31, 2014 will receive a complimentary night.

The contemporary, two-level villas each offer three bedrooms with king-sized beds, and two smaller bedrooms, all with en suite baths and ocean or garden views. Both villas offer ocean-front terraces, two-level pools, Jacuzzis and built-in outdoor Viking barbeques among other upscale amenities. The resort’s staff works with local wedding consultants to provide a full menu of wedding planning services for couples.
