Caribbean Week Heading to the Big Apple

The sights, sounds, colors, culture and people of the Caribbean are heading to New York June 9 thru 17 as part of Caribbean Week in New York 2007, an annual weeklong series of consumer-focused events and business meetings highlighted by the sale of specially-priced vacation packages.

Planned by the Caribbean Tourism Development Company (CTDC), Caribbean Week in New York 2007 will offer consumer activities that provides a glimpse into the Caribbean vacation experience including tropical music, savory food, entertainment, fashion, two Caribbean weddings, and the black-tie 34th Annual Governments of the Caribbean State Ball at the famed Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

The week culminates with the First Annual Caribbean Beach Volleyball Tournament, where qualifying matches for the Championship Tournament will be played in Long Beach, New York on June 16 and 17.

“The goal of Caribbean Week in New York is to provide consumers with a small taste of the Caribbean region so they are inspired to plan their next vacation to any of the 30-plus destinations we feature,” said Hugh Riley, one of the event’s main organizers.

“Year-after-year, the events of Caribbean Week in New York have expanded to attract a diverse audience to our Caribbean weddings, music events, cricket matches, culinary demonstrations, Caribbean Fair, Town Hall meetings, the Governments of the Caribbean State Ball, and now a series of beach volleyball tournaments, all with the objective of promoting the Caribbean vacation experience,” Mr. Riley added.
