Caribbean Week in New York to Feature Gospel Concert
The heart and soul of the Caribbean will touch New York City as never before when some of the region´s favorite performers convey the immortal spiritual psyche of Caribbean people at a gospel concert on June 11, 2006.
The inaugural Caribbean Gospelfest will be one of the highlights of Caribbean Week in New York 2006, which takes place from June 11-17.
“While the sights, sounds and various aspects of Caribbean culture, including sports, fashion and art, have been celebrated by many, it is arguably the music that best conveys the true spirit of the Caribbean people,” said Hugh Riley, the Caribbean Tourism Organization´s (CTO) director of marketing for the Americas.
Caribbean Gospelfest will take place at the Hanson Place United Methodist Church on St. Felix Street in Brooklyn from 4:30 p.m. on June 11.
The three-hour concert will feature long-time favorites and current star performers from the Caribbean including: Wendy Mitchell and Wayne Johnson of Trinidad and Tobago, Joan Myers of Jamaica, Joseph Niles of Barbados and Guyana´s Cora Williamson, among other boldface names.
