Central America Went All Out at ITB to Conquer German Travelers
Central American nations attended the past Berlin International Tourism Fair (ITB), one of the biggest fairs in the business, with a view to get the better of European and German travelers by unveiling a diverse tourist product.
“If we think about the profile of the German tripper, we’ll see that he looks for nature, culture and adventure, and that’s exactly the kind of offer we’re presenting to the German market right now,” said Javier Vega, head of the Central American Tourism Agency (CATA).
”We possess eight percent of the world’s natural resources, a huge cultural legacy in the Mayan heritage, plus fourteen sites protected by UNESCO and great adventure possibilities,” Mr. Vega went on to say.
Mr. Vega explained that CATA is an organization founded nearly a year ago in an effort to jointly promote travel destinations in Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica and Belize.
CATA seeks to meet the needs of European trekkers interested in “knowing many different places” during their vacations. Central America –Vega said- is specially zeroing in on the European market not only for the good growth chances the region sees in the Old World, but also because European tourists are highly educated people who tend to spend more money than visitors hailing from nearby locations.
