Chinese Investment in Santiago de Cuba Harbor

The refurbishment and streamlining of the Santiago de Cuba harbor was assessed by Chinese businesspeople from the Communication & Building Company (CCCC), the group in charge of executing this three-year-long project.

With a price tag of $120 million, the future all-purpose terminal in the Santiago de Cuba bay will make room for 40,000-ton freighters once the docks are outfitted with state-of-the-art seaport equipment.
Slashing operational costs and having better organization and management of resources will be other advantages the Guillermon Moncada port will count on following the works taken on by the Chinese Communication & Construction Partnership.
Advanced programs will be installed for the planning of complex port processes in an investment that, in addition to economic benefits, will have a social impact because it create jobs for about 500 workers in Santiago’s building and seaport operation sectors.
Located in the northwestern part of the bay, the piers will be dredged to a depth of over 13 meters, thus giving the all-purpose terminal in the port of Santiago de Cuba a chance to be a part of the master plan for seaport development in the province.
This major work to give the Santiago port facility a new lease on life is part of the great transformations that are under way in the Heroic City of Santiago de Cuba.
