Costa Rica’s tourism tradeshow made it big
Costa Rica’s 19th EXPOTUR tourism fair that recently rolled down the curtain in San Jose, yielded sales way over $100 million and a white-heat promotional effort to portray Central America as a tourist destination.
EXPOTUR chairman Manuel Carranza pointed out those sale outcomes came as a result of a poll taken by a majority of Costa Rican purchasers, plus others from Nicaragua, Panama and other regional countries.
During the course of this tradeshow, Costa Rican travel operators signed a number of ethic guidelines and regulations aimed at plucking child sex exploitation off the nation’s tourist activity. The aforesaid agreement was inked by ACROPOT, the Costa Rican Association of Tour Operators and PANIAMOR, a private watchdog that keeps an eye on children’s rights.
EXPOTUR is Central America’s biggest tourist marketplace that every year gathers scores of tour operators, travel agencies, hoteliers, car rental dealers and publishers bent on making both their countries and the whole region bask in the limelight of advertisement.
