Costa Rica Expects to Reap Good Business Dividends from EXPOTUR
Some 150 travel and tourism wholesalers from 16 countries will huddle in Costa Rica´s EXPOTUR with a view to do business with impresarios from that Central American nation.
EXPOTUR is Latin America´s largest travel mart that gathers wholesalers interested in selling the Central American region as a travel destination. The event also pursues the opening of new markets and product diversification.
Some of the top attendants are Air Canada Vacations, Air Tours Krakow (Poland), Inca and Amazonian Tours (Peru) and Delta Travel from the U.S.
Stretching out from May 31 to June 3, EXPOTUR will also give participants the opportunity of mapping out new travel development alternatives through seminars and other activities.
Carlos Lizama, president of EXPOTUR´s Organizing Committee, says there´s an impending need to come up with new market niches that can guarantee a top-quality product in the face of fiercer competition in the region.
Mr. Lizama went on to say that Costa Rican authorities are working with a team of scientists from the Marviva organization to sketch out a new strategy aimed at tapping the country´s natural resources in a reasonable way.
EXPOTUR is expected to generate some $80 million worth of profits for Costa Rica, chiefly in terms of tours, taxes, promotion, lodging and food.
