The recently concluded conclave of the Latin America Tourism Organization (COTAL) –held from May 7 to 11- was used by the Mexican travel destination of Cancun to spearhead the recovery of the South American market to its premises, a segment whose total inflow took a double-digit slide from 12 to 2 percent over the last couple of years, the event’s Organizing Committee pointed out.

Press reports referred to the visit paid to Cancun by Matias Prisco, Enzo Furnari, and Jorge Hernandez, president and vice president of COTAL, and president de la Mexican Association of Travel Agents, respectively, who attended a number of events and working sessions of the COTAL congress that unfolded successfully under the slogan Cancun: A Point of Reencounter.

Over 650 tourism businesspeople from Latin America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia participated in the annual meeting.
