CTO makes preparations for a conference on tourism in the Caribbean scheduled to take place next October in the Bahamas
New York._ The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) headquarters in Barbados and the Ministry of Tourism of the Bahamas are jointly planning the 25th Annual Conference on the leisure industry in the Caribbean Basin (CTC-25) scheduled to take place from October 28 to 31 on the Bahamian islands of Lucaya and Grand Bahamas, and a projected attendance of 1,000 delegates.
Under the slogan Re-launching the Caribbean Tourism, the meeting will gather officials and executives from the sector representing governments, hotels, airlines, cruise companies, travel agencies, tour operators, allied members and journalists from all around the world.
CTC-25 will home in on the current status of the industry in the region following the devastating blow dealt by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Attendants will have the chance to scour new ways aimed at backpedaling low numbers of incoming travelers. Travel agents affected by some airlines’ decision to eliminate commissions will also be addressed.
Planners are organizing working sessions prior to the conference opening for tourism ministers and directors, for the CTO’s board of directors and for chairmen of the organization’s chapters.
Moreover, previous meetings of the Marketing, Sustainable Tourism Development, Personnel and Aviation committees are in the works.
The CTO is a Barbados-based agency for tourism development made up of 32 governments and an assortment of private companies. The CTO has share operations in the New York, London and Toronto stock exchange markets.
