CTO official calls for more investment in regional tourism
The director of finance and resource management of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), Luther Miller, has called for greater investment within the tourism sector to meet the growing demands of visitors to the region.
Addressing the 9th Annual Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (CHIC), Mr Miller recalled that a record 21.8 million tourists came to the Caribbean last year and the projections are that this figure would continue to grow in coming years.
To sustain tourism and economic growth and development, he indicated, augmentation of infrastructure, creation of new facilities and avenues to attract tourists is necessary.
This is where the investors can step in with their ventures and enterprises to take advantage of the numerous investment opportunities in areas such as hotels, motels, spas, conference facilities and recreational, natural, historical and cultural attractions, he suggested.
