Cuba´s Convention Bureau Pins Up Oncoming Events

The Cuba Convention Bureau (CCB) is planning to organize a string of events on sciences, farming and beverages during the course of the ongoing year. The announcement was broken to the press during a meeting at the Antilles Hall of the Triton Hotel -a property of Gran Caribe Co.

The list of upcoming events includes the 2004 NEFROCIMEG, the International Rum Festival and the First Latin American Meeting of Apiculture.

During its monthly meeting with the press, Dr. Carlos Gutierrez of the CCB underscored the importance of the fourth edition of NEFROCIMEG, scheduled for May 26 to 28 at the Latin American Center of Medical Events. This conference will be organized by the Center for Medical & Surgical Research (CIMEQ).

In Mr. Gutierrez´s opinion, the event is backed up by the island nation´s intense research and good results in kidney transplants and treatment of related renal diseases, a background that will probably draw over 100 experts from Europe and the Americas.

In the same breath, the Morro-Cabaña Tourist Compound in Havana will host the International Rum Festival with scores of producers, distillers, dealers and other professionals linked to the rum-making industry turning up for the event.

From September 7 through 9 this year, Havana´s International Conference Center will be the venue of the First Latin American Meeting of Apiculture.

Eng. Israel Losada, deputy president of the Cuban Apiculture Department, praised the magnificent comeback that the island nation´s honey output has made in recent year with over 7,000 tons last year alone.

In addition, organizer Adolfo Perez also announced the holding of the First Cuban Apiculture Congress, a parallel event that will count on a turnout of some 200 experts from the turf and overseas.

In the light of all those events, CCB officials introduced the Costa Azul Hotel as a venue for some major international gatherings. The hotel´s general manageress, Josefina Gomez, also attended the ceremony.
