Cuba’s 2004 Tourism Convention Dedicated to Jardines del Rey

Cuba’s upcoming Tourism Convention –scheduled from May 3 to 6 at the Plaza America Conference Center in Varadero- will this time around be devoted to culture as a tourist product, featuring the United Kingdom as the guest country and the local destination of Jardines del Rey as the special focus of attention.

Cuba’s Tourism Vice Minister Marta Maiz Gomez explained that tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, journalists, industry professionals and travel companies will exchange views about their products and new offerings, let alone have a one-and-only opportunity to get a firsthand look at the island nation’s leisure sector.

The conclave will provide a perfect backdrop for the unveiling of new products and conveniences the Jardines del Rey destination has to offer. The U.K. –one of the major senders of travelers to Cuba- will be the guest country. And culture as a travel choice will get some media hype, too, driven by the island’s consistent headway in both fields.

Ten years and 3,600 rooms later –all accommodations are scattered in eleven four-star and five-star hotels- Jardines del Rey stands tall as one of the best travel circuits in the country. These keys are part of the more than 2,500 islets that make up the Sabana-Camaguey Archipelago and stretch along the northern shoreline of the Ciego de Avila province.

Unexplored places like Coco and Guillermo Keys have put themselves on the map of those looking for perfect sun-and-san getaways. Their tourist values are strengthened by the high level of preservation of the local flora and wildlife.
