Featuring a solid infrastructure and the necessary workforce to guarantee a top-notch service, Cuba ranks fifth in the Americas as far as the organization of events is concerned, said Conrado Martinez Corona, chairman of the island nation’s Convention Bureau.

The top executive pointed out this activity is currently contributing 12 percent of all tourists coming to Cuba every year with revenues thrice bigger than what conventional travelers spend since this kind of traveler usually brings someone else in tow.

Mr. Martinez said the organization of events is now reaching out to other provinces with over 37,000 rooms scattered in four-star and five-star hotels marketed by such celebrated companies as Sol Meliá, Cubanacan, Gran Caribe and Iberostar, among others.

While attending the creation of the working team charged with the event and incentive modality in Cuba’s central-eastern region, Mr. Martinez underlined there are similar offices in eight provinces with the idea of both fostering this particular kind of tourist activity and beefing up its grip of the world market.
