With an entourage of representatives from different travel companies and institutions, Cuba took part in the Shanghai 2004 International Tourism Fair that came to a close last week.

The Cuban delegation, that brought along a slogan reading "Cuba: A Multi-Destination In Itself," was headed by the island nation´s Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.

Penciled in as one of China´s leading travel markets, the fair set the stage for a turnout of approximately 3,000 exhibitors from everywhere under the sun.

Rebecca Jara, director of promotion and advertisement for the Cuban Tourism Ministry, explained the delegation´s motto is backed up by an array of choices that ranges from great sun-and-sand options and nature to culture and health tourism.

As far as the Chinese market is concerned -Cuba was granted the authorized destination status by Chinese authorities in 2003- Mrs. Jara explained efforts are underway to come up with a proper offer that could meet the diversity of interests of the giant Asian nation´s traveling population.
