Cuba Puts on Show at Tourism Fair in France

Cuba participated in Le Monde à Paris International Tourism Fair in France (MAP 2011) with its summer promotion and products linked to its cultural and historic riches and heritage. The event, that opened on Thursday at the exhibition park of Porte de Versalles in the French capital, ran thru Sunday and turned out an opportunity to promote the most genuine values of the Caribbean island.

The Cuban 45-square-meter stand gave some atmosphere by way of the Genuine Cuba advertising campaign, which will also be presented in five cities of that European nation (Lyon, Marseille, Strasburg, Toulouse and Bordeaux), a press release by the Cuban Tourism Ministry pointed out.

MAP 2011 favored contacts with important partners and collaborators, in order to hold exchanges about the results of the commercialization of the Cuban tourist destination in France, a market that in 2010 was seventh on the list of countries sending the largest amount of tourists to the island, with over 80,000 visitors.

Likewise, there were meetings with tour operators, specialized press and other professionals in this sector, as well as cultural activities that included contests of salsa, games and other attractions.

Participants in these presentations were the office for Tourism Promotion and
Information for France and Switzerland, the Havanatur Paris tour operator, the Gran Caribe hotel group, the Iberostar and Occidental hotel associates, Cubana Airlines and Air France.
