Cuba’s new conference center pops up amid mountains and the sea
Havana._ Caught between the Caribbean deep blue sea and the Sierra Maestra mountain range in eastern Cuba, construction of a brand-new conference center will soon get underway to host the upcoming 3rd International Meeting on Nature Tourism (TURNAT-2003) scheduled to take place in October in Granma’s Marea del Portillo.
The new facility will seat 300 people and will be next to Marea del Portillo and Farallon del Caribe hotels, both run by Cubanacan in that tourist destination of southeastern Cuba.
Besides the building of the conference center, preparations for TURNAT-2003 include the addition of 86 new cabanas to the Santo Domingo tourist villa owned by the Islazul hotel chain -a company currently operating just 20 such accommodations in this far-off spot that reaches in to the Turquino National Park.
