Cuban art festival in Jardines del Rey
The Cuban tourist destination of Jardines del Rey, off the northern waters of the central province of Ciego de Avila, will host this June the Coco Fest, one of the events planned to mark the tenth anniversary of tourism’s arrival in the keys.
The festival’s venue will be El Senador hotel compound on Cayo Coco, one of the islets making up Jardines del Rey. For its part, the gathering will give a crack at the overall promotion of the arts with special heed to painting, a reason why the names of such fine artists as Roberto Fabelo, Nelson Dominguez and Pedro Pablo Oliva are high on the guest list.
The festival will also feature top performers like Grammy-award winner Chucho Valdes, plus numerous U.S., Canadian, Cuban and Australian bands.
In the same breath, planners will once again this year stage the Cigar Dinner in which boxes of genuine Cuban stogies –exclusively hand-rolled for the occasion- will be dished out.
In the course of the ongoing year, Jardines del Rey has chalked up a 25 percent growth with as many of 75,000 visitors so far. Up to now, the destination has amassed $10 million worth of revenues.
These results reinforce Coco and Guillermo keys –with 3,300 hotel rooms in all- as one of the most budding tourist destination in Cuba where a combination of top-drawer natural values, great safety and an assorted offer is the name of the game.
