Cuban Tourism and Health Fair made it big in Bolivia
The First Cuban Fair on Tourism and Health held in the city of Santa Cruz in eastern Bolivia came to a successful close as planners and attendants are now ready to take the tradeshow to other burgs.
Representatives of Cuban tourism and health entities there underscored the event’s goal of promoting the many choices Cuban health institutions have to offer, as well as the ties established between Bolivian medical institutions and their Cuban counterparts.
In that respect, Obel Garcia, head of the “Camilio Cienfuegos” International Eye Care Center, talked about the way his Bolivian peers praised the achievements of Cuban medical institutions in general and especially the treatment against retinitis pigmentosa thought up by the institution’s founder, Dr. Orfilio Pelaez.
According to Jeremias Fernandez, representative of Cubamedica Ltd. In Bolivia, the success has prompted organizers to consider taking the fair to other Bolivian cities in coming editions.
Cuban ambassador to Bolivia, Luis Felipe Vazquez, underlined the significance of the scientific ties woven between Cuban medical experts and the tremendous potentials that future fairs could offer in Bolivia to stress the island nation’s scientific breakthroughs.
Mr. Vazquez added that recognition stems not only from the international prestige of his country’s health care institutions, but also from the scores of Bolivian medicine students in Cuba and the treatments many Bolivian citizens have received on the Caribbean island.
The fair was attended by physicians from the Ameijeiras Bros. Hospital, the Manuel Fajardo Medical Center, the Frank Pais Orthopedic Hospital, the Cira Garcia Central Clinic and the National Oncology and Radiology Institute.
There were also experts from the Camilo Cienfuegos Eye Care Center, the National Neurological Rehabilitation Center, the Surgical Medical Research Center, the Villa Cocal Drug Rehabilitation Center, the Placenta Therapy Institute and La Pradera Health Care Center.
