This April, international wholesalers, tour operators, incentive group planners, airlines and charter operators will huddle with the nation’s leading tourism suppliers in the premier travel trade marketplace in the country: the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE).

Starting on April 12 thru 14, the cream of the travel industry crop will be able to set up one-on-one meetings with suppliers of Dominican tourism products and services. Last year, over 150 buyers representing 50 countries met with over 170 suppliers representing nearly 100 properties. This time around, the event promises to go those numbers one better.

By early March, both buyers and suppliers will receive a DATE Delegate Directory with marketing and product information on all participants. With this in hand, the buyer delegates can decide which suppliers best meet their needs and request appointments.

All meetings are arranged in advanced through computer matching or at the event during scheduling sessions. The 20-minute meetings are designed to be efficient and beneficial for both parties. During the meeting or prior to the event, buyers may also request on-site visits.

This year, the event will be held in the Barceló Bavaro Convention Center, in legendary Bavaro Beach, in Punta Cana. The gathering is coordinated by the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA).

The Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange enters its eighth year as the number-one tour and travel trade marketplace in the Dominican Republic. Organized by the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants (ASONAHORES) and the Tourism Promotion Council (CPT), it markets the Dominican tourism product and attracts important international distributors.

DATE was first established in 2000, and is an exclusive business platform between international wholesalers and tour operators, incentive group planners, airlines, charter operator and Dominican suppliers, hoteliers, local tour operators, and event organizers as well as suppliers of event space and local air, land and sea transport.
