Dominican Republic Hosts Ball Hockey Tournament in December

To the mix of sporting events coming up in the Caribbean comes the first ever Ball Hockey Tournament in the Dominican Republic.

The event, scheduled for December 1 to 8, will be hosted by the Sun Village Resort & Spa in Cofresi Beach on the north coast of the Dominican Republic in partnership with the National Hockey League Alumni Association.

For the uninitiated, ball hockey is played on tennis courts with a hockey ball, rather than a hockey puck, and the players wear sneakers, not hockey skates. However, the regular rules of hockey apply.

The resort’s four-night, all-inclusive tournament package, priced at $1,499, double, includes accommodations, participation in one ball hockey game, hockey clinics, celebrity-athlete “meet and greets” and a poolside karaoke night.
