Editorial Oriente to Launch Literary Novelties at 2015 Book Fair

This edition of the literary Fair will be dedicated to Olga Portuondo, winner of a Social Sciences National Award, who is working hard these days. The same happens with the workers of Editorial Oriente that are making arrangements on the Historian’s materials.

Many of those works are going to be put out in February at Jose Antonio Portuondo Hall in La Cabaña. According to the Director of Editorial Oriente, Aymara Vera Riveron, the group of texts includes Esclavos y libres de la Cuba Colonial and La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre: símbolo de cubanía which have printed for previous editions of the event.”

Jose Suarez Amador’s De Las Villas a Oriente combatiendo el vandalismo and Del tráfico a la libertad: el caso de los africanos de la fragata Dos hermanos en Cuba (1795- 1837) by Aisnara Perera and Maria de los Angeles Meriño, are some of the titles included this year in the Bronze Collection.

The Fiction Collection brings Mesyé Presidan by Orlando Andrade; The Cuban dream, written by Yusimi Rodriguez – winner of the Eastern Short Story Award – and Pedro Juan Gutierrez’s Viejo loco, books that according to the philologist are slated to be launched on February 20 at noon, Jose Lezama Lima Hall.

This time around, Butterfly Collection is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Santiago de Cuba. That’s the reason why three Santiago-born writers will be exhibiting their books Heroinas teatrales: poetica y marginalidad de la directora teatral, by Norah Hamze; La sombra protectora, Teresa Melo’s poetry book; and Las voces y los ecos, a novel by Aida Bahr, dedicated to the Eastern University.

Aymara pointed out that the fourth edition of the School Basic Dictionary is also going to be sold, with over 25 thousand copies, as well as books from the Self-help collection, Wing and spur collection for children and several works, totaling 67 to be put on the table by the publishing house.

La expedicion de Cayo Confites, a text coedited with the General Archive of the Dominican Republic is set to be put out by the Director of such institution. That important moment is going to be complemented by the launch of the Basic Dictionary of African-rooted Religions in Cuba and Manual de Cualidades, defectos y otros males del cubano.
