Ferreiro Cultural Complex to Open Soon

This city is making arrangements to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the assault to Moncada Barracks and 500th of its foundation, and the process includes plans and projects that have a positive impact in its urban order and beauty.

One of these works is being carried out at Ferreiro esplanade, commonly known as Youth Square, which already shows a different image.

According to the plan, this space is going to be turned into a cultural complex with mini restaurant, cafeteria, coffee bar, CD store and album café where visitors will have the possibility to listen to music and buy discs. Likewise, it will feature a pizzeria, with fast pizza-portions and special pizzas.

Wilfredo Alfonso, manager of this entity, said: “This is the biggest ARTEX store in Santiago de Cuba and the second of its kind in the country.”

And he pointed out: “We are going to sell the whole range of Arte en Casa products, books, saddler objects and craftworks, beds, furniture, lingerie, cloths, etc.

“We’re looking forward to turning this place into a cultural space, with live music played four times a day by small-format groups. We should also highlight that the Cultural Assets Fund was in charge of decking out the premises with replicas of works created by Santiago-born artists, such as Alberto Lescay, Nelson Dominguez and Wifredo Lam. Large-scale artworks are going to be exhibited in emblematic places of the territory.”

Ferreiro Cultural Complex has been planned to become another option for the women and men of Santiago to enjoy, thanks to the workers of such companies as EPASE, Flora y Fauna, ETECSA, RETOMED and COMETAL.
