FIHAV 2004 made a solid contribution to Cuban economy

The Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV´2004), concluded Sunday with a favorable outcome for the Cuban economy, allowing several transactions estimated at over 193 million dollars.

The event´s organizing committee informed that the mentioned figure includes 7 million dollars in exports, through letters of intent that should be signed in the coming few months. Similarly, Cuban companies reached agreements for the export of goods and services valued at over 26 million dollars, complying with the official strategy to diversify exports.

Of total operations, over 140 million dollars belong to Cuba´s Alimport -firm specialized in food import and export. The signed agreements include about 100,000 tons of wheat, 20,000 tons of soy bean, rice, flour, and poultry, involving companies from the US, Vietnam, Argentina, Italy, Venezuela, Brazil, and Germany.

As many as 1,500 companies from 45 countries attended FIHAV´2004 from November 1 to 7, when Cuba once again won the majority of prizes in recognition for the presented goods and services.
