FIHAV 2017 Comes to a Close

Cuba walked out of the 35th edition of the Havana International Fair with the lion’s share of prizes and mentions during the closing ceremony held at the International Conference Center in the island nation’s capital. China was the most awarded nation and grabbed top honors for the best FIHAV 2017 Pavilion.

New products from Cuba, China, Russia and the Netherlands won the largest number of prizes for their presentation, quality, design, innovation and technological impact. Most of the gold medals, prizes, mentions and other recognitions went to Belgium, Chile, China, Cuba, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Germany, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Poland, Russia and Venezuela.

YUTONG Buses and the 65-inch LCD smart TV by PANDAwere some of the night’s big winners, as well as theKAMAZ trailer and the URAL truck. Safety footwear made in Holland, Chile’s Monte red wine, BRASCUBA’s cigarettes, Cuba Ron and the island nation’s Corporación Coralsa also made it big.

During the closing ceremony of the Havana International Fair, mentions were given to the pavilions of Venezuela and France and Special Awards were handed to the Caribbean Pavilion and Puerto Rico, the latest for attending the fair despite the serious damage caused by Maria hurricane throughout its territory.

FIHAV 2017, October 30 – November 3, also hosted the 2nd Investments Forum where the new Business Opportunity Portfolio with foreign capital was aired. It engulfs over 450 projects (156 of which are new) and capital over 10.7 billion dollars.

As an interesting element during the last day of the Expocuba-hosted event, the 2017- 2019 Cuba’s Business Directory was launched along with the website of the Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion Center (ProCuba).

This edition of FIHAV was attended by 3,400 exhibitors from over 70 countries, as well as some twenty official delegations headed by ministers or any other senior officials, dozens of representatives from Chambers of Commerce and other agencies and institutions promoting exchange and cooperation.

FIHAV stands out as a significant tool to strengthen business relations among nations and an ideal space to show the economic potential of this Antillean archipelago.
