The Dominican Republic will be prominently featured as the next partner country of the ITB Berlin, which is due to take place in March 2008. This announcement was made by the country’s Minister of Tourism Felix Jimenez at the opening last month of the XI Bolsa Turística del Caribe (BTC) in Santo Domingo.

“The Dominican Republic is now firmly established in world tourism as a year-round destination for vacationers and for incentive tour operators. This has been borne out not only by the increasing number of visitors from Germany but also by the arrivals from the rest of the world too, which are expected to exceed four million in 2007,” said Raimund Hosch, CEO of Messe Berlin.

As the partner country of the ITB Berlin 2008, the Dominican Republic will be organizing the opening ceremonies on Tuesday, March 4, next year as well as being prominently featured on various stages during the trade show, with several events and some culinary delights too.

In addition to the Ministry of Tourism’s pavilion in Hall 3.1, the Caribbean Hall, numerous other representatives from the private sector will be staging their own presentations at the ITB Berlin on an area occupying some 500 square meters.
