With less than a month remaining for the opening ceremony of the International Cricket Council’s Cricket World Cup 2007 (ICC/CWC), Guyana says that it has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring that every aspect of its preparedness is intact.

By the end of January the physical works on the stadium were recorded as being 99 percent complete while all other aspects were said to be well advanced.

Addressing the National Assembly, Minister of Culture Youth and Sport, Frank Anthony, said that his Ministry has been working closely with all associated agencies to ensure that Guyana remains geared for the hosting of the mega event.

He outlined that with the exception of minor works on the parking lot and the internal fence, the stadium is substantively completed and ready to be handed over to the ICC/CWC officials by mid-February.
