Haydee Milanes to Give a Concert on Friday at Artex’s Miramar Café
Young singer and songwriter Haydee Milaneswill be performing on Friday June 26 at 10:00 pm, Miramar Café, Artex’s cultural center nestled on 5th Avenue and 94th, Miramar, Havana.
Haydee is going to dazzle those who decide to go to Miramar Café on Friday night, with an attractive repertoire that comprises songs written by the young singer, her father Pablo Milanes and Descemer Bueno.
She will be also singing some of the titles included in the album named Palabras, her latest production with Artex’s Bis Music, which pays tribute to the work of Cuban songwriter Marta Valdes.
With PalabrasHaydee Milanes won the award in Song Catalogue category in this year’s edition of Cubadisco, and audiovisual Cancion Facil,the second one included in this album, produced by outstanding moviemaker Fernando Perez, got the prize in Video Clip category.
Although Haydee Milanes spent three years away from stages, she’s back with plenty of energy to promote her album and every performance is applauded by the public. As examples we have her presence at Mella Theater in October 2014, within the framework of Leo Brower Festival; Avellaneda Hall at the National Theater in early 2015 and the latest one, on June 21, at the Cuban Art Factory as part of 16 mini concerts organized for AM PM America Por su Musica.
Haydee Milanes, author of such albums as Haydee (2005), Haydee Milanes en vivo (2008) and A la Felicidad (2009), has split her time over the past two years so as to play the roles of mother, singer and songwriter. That new situation –being the mother of Haydee Oromi- has turned her into a happier woman and more prolific in terms of work projects. In this interview given to Juventud Rebelde in early 2015 she said “I want to grow as a songwriter, create my own songs, and mark my own style when it comes to writing songs. I’d also love writing music for movies.”
While she waits for the opportunity to write for the seventh art, Haydee Milanes amazes viewers with her histrionic flairs on video clip Cancion Facil. Producer Fernando Perez underscores that “she’s a shy performer, but she has a powerful inner world, and there is an actress inside of her, so we not only conceive her participation in the video as the singer and her song, she’s playing a character.”
