As a way to promote tourism in Argentina, the city of Buenos Aires is holding this weekend the twelfth edition of the International Wintertime Tourism Exposition at the Exhibition Center of the nation’s capital.

The event is gathering over 150 specialized exhibitors and features countless attractions, prizes and special promotions.

Argentina’s Tourism Department recently unveiled the 2004 Argentina Snow Program in an effort to join hands with the federal government in stepping up national and international advertisement of wintertime tourism and of the country’s skiing stations.

The program, relying on a budget of 1.5 million pesos, pursues the gathering of information about those activities held in several destinations and skiing stations in Argentina. The end goal is to put those places on the world map and guarantee more competitive services.

“The nation’s government is strongly committed to the process of transforming tourism into a useful tool for Argentina’s overall development,” Tourism Secretary Carlos Meyer explained.

“The countries of the world that stand tall in the realm of today’s tourism are those that have sketched out joint collaboration strategies between the private and public sectors,” he concluded.
