ITB Berlin 2009 Supports, Presents TO DO! Award 2008
The Institute for Tourism and Development is accepting applications for the international competitions “TO DO! Contest on Socially Responsible Tourism” (deadline August 31, 2008) and the “TOURA D'OR Film Contest for Sustainable Tourism” (deadline September 30, 2008).
Since 1995 the TO DO! is awarded to tourism-related projects which ensure the involvement of the different interests and requirements of the local people through participation.
The biannual TOURA D'OR contest first took place in 1990. The TOURA D’OR is awarded to professional film productions which are committed to making tourism socially responsible, environmentally compatible and sustainable.
The focus of the independent Institute for Tourism and Development is on development-related information and education for the tourism sector. The institute edits publications holds training seminars for tour guides, is active in tourism research and consulting and organizes international contests that promote sustainability in tourism.
The ITB Berlin Conventions Market Trends & Innovations is the largest convention for the travel industry worldwide and functions as think tank for the travel sector. The ITB Business Travel Days and PhoCusWright@ITB highlight the latest developments in this realm. In 2008, ITB Berlin Convention had a total attendance of 11,000 people.
