Jamaica, Cuba Agree to Promote Multi-Destination Offers

Cuba and Jamaica have agreed promote multi-destination tourism between the two countries, according to Jamaica minister of tourism Edmund Bartlett, who announced the agreement at the annual Jamaica Product Exchange.
A similar agreement will be signed with the Dominican Republic in mid-June, Bartlett said.
“This is a very exciting moment for us here in the Caribbean. We are beginning to witness a seismic shift in the economic and social activities within our Caribbean space. The improved relationship between Cuba and the U.S. has enabled us to begin to create a new architecture for tourism in the northern Caribbean,” said Bartlett.
“Our dreams of establishing multi-destination marketing arrangements and greater economic collaboration are now becoming potent realities. Cuba’s ambassador to Jamaica, Bernardo Guanche Hernandez, and I discussed a number of critical issues that we can embark on together.”
The U.S. is Jamaica’s largest market, and with Cuba coming into the mainstream of economic activities within the region, Bartlett said that the timing “is now perfect to formally implement this crucial partnership.”
Specific marketing plans will be announced in the coming weeks.
