Jamaica to Host Triathlon and Wellness Festival
The second annual WATA Rose Hall Triathlon & Wellness Festival is scheduled for Oct. 31 along Jamaica’s Rose Hall. Taking place along the North Coast near Montego Bay, the WATA Rose Hall Triathlon & Wellness Festival attracts locals and visitors.
“The WATA Rose Hall Triathlon & Wellness Festival is helping to position Jamaica as the capital of sports and health tourism in the Caribbean,” said John Lynch, Jamaica’s director of tourism. “Jamaica is home to the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, and by tapping into our athletic roots we are boosting our appeal to sports, health and wellness enthusiasts.”
For those athletes who want to participate in a less arduous competition, the Sprint Triathlon, which is one half of the international distance (750-meter swim, 23-kilometer bike, 5-kilometer run), and the Beach Duathlon Sprint, consisting of a 500-meter run, 23-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run, are options. A Jamaican Halloween party on Oct. 31 at the Rose Hall Great House is planned as is a kids’ triathlon on Sunday, Nov. 1.
