Jimmy Ashi, Manager of Cardos Trading Canada

Within the framework of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2014), Caribbean News Digital sat down with Jimmy Ashi, manager of Cardos Trading Canada, a company based in Ontario that hopes to pry into the Caribbean market with top-quality products and services.

Where is your company based?
We are based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Is this the first time you come to Cuba?
This is actually the first time we are presenting in FIHAV. We are specialized in Mediterranean Gourmet Food. We would like to have the pleasure to introducing our products to the Cuban market.

Do you have a representation office in Cuba?
So far, nobody. We are looking for representation.

What do you think about FIHAV so far?
It’s very impressive, very interesting.

Are your products present in any other Caribbean market?
Not yet. Our target is to look for a Caribbean market or Latin American market like Venezuela, Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica; because we know that we have unique products that are interesting to these markets. Our products actually would rather be consumed by Mediterranean cuisine. We know that our products are going to be in demand.

Another part of our mission being in FIHAV is related to the fact that we are open to contribute and help the Cuban market or any Caribbean market when it comes to obtaining certain products that are needed. We would love to participate and share our experience and knowledge. One of the most important things is to obtain a joint venture or business partner interested in the agricultural products that we could provide, our expertise and know-how to produce those products through the final stage of packaging. We are qualified to do the job.
You said that you’re looking for representation. Do you have any investment plan?
Yes. We’re looking for representation first in Cuba, as well as in other Caribbean countries. Our investment is aimed at the introduction of the product, teaching how to use it and obtain new recipes and exotic and traditional plates in the region. We are able to customize according to the client’s needs in retail and food service.
