The launch of Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival took place on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the historical Devon House, Kingston, Jamaica. Air Jamaica Board Members, sponsors, stakeholders and media got a bird’s eye view of the exciting line up for 2009, which has been promised to be one of the finest productions to date. The festival will take place January 22 thru 24, 2009 at the Rose Hall Aqueduct, St. James.

Jamaica’s Ministry of Tourism has joined Walter Elsmore of Turn-Key productions, the current promoter and producer of the festival as title sponsor. Commensurate with this is the name change which has omitted the word “Air”.

In his presentation to the audience, Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism placed music and entertainment high on the product offerings for the island along with health and wellbeing and nature segments.

Zachary Harding, Deputy Minister of Tourism, followed the minister and said in his address that Jamaica as the title sponsor of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival will continue to take it to a new level. He explained a unique approach taken to push and market Jamaica like never before.

The marketing agency would combine air fare, accommodation, event and ticket (i.e. gold or concert ticket) into a super package that Tour Operators would offer as an activity of the destination.
