Madrid to Host Fall Performance Festival
From Oct. 13 through Nov. 16, Madrid will be celebrating the 25th edition of its annual fall festival with over 166 performances of theater, music, dance and circus arts. The 40 artistic companies in the festival hail from all over the world including Europe, the U.S., South America, Australia and Japan and will perform in venues in both central Madrid and its suburbs. Dance is showcased in serious pieces performed by the contemporary Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal and in the Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo.
Concerts feature Nathalie Joly singing the Romanian classics of Maria Tanase, Josh Weller of the UK performing pop-folk and the avant-garde, and American singer and pianist Diamanda Galas. Though many of the theater performances are in Spanish, there is a range of works in other languages including English, French, German, Polish as well as multi-lingual productions. There is a 15 percent discount on tickets purchased before Sept. 15.
