This event is slated for on July 1-4, 2015, within the framework of the activities related to the 2015 Caribbean Festival.

Some of the topics to be debated are “Photography and Visual Arts on Underwater Natural and Cultural Heritage”, ”Underwater Archaeology in Cuba and Overseas in an Effort to Preserve the Cultural Heritage”, ”Educative Social Communication to Contribute to the Preservation of Natural Heritage”, ”The Preservation and Protection of Museum Collections.”

During the press conference, Gladys María Collazo Usallán, President of the National Monument Commission, confirmed the participation of numerous international experts linked the topic. She also commented that a relevant declaration is going to be issued during the sessions, related to underwater heritage in Santiago de Cuba: “This year’s SIMPOSUB features significant connotations. We’ll have the 500th anniversary of Santiago de Cuba; interesting presentations developed by experienced researchers, members of the Cervera family are going to join us to place emphasis on history. We also want to issue an important declaration not only for Santiago, but for Cuba: the Declaration of Admiral Cervera’s fleet as National Heritage in the bay of Santiago de Cuba.”

SIMPOSUB, among other activities, will be complementing the sociocultural program organized to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the village.
