Maykel Blanco Thanks the Support of the Cuban Press

Maykel Blanco and his Salsa Mayor band, which is part of the artist portfolio of Artex’s Musicalia agency, staged a concert on June 27 at the Casa de la Música Habana that also served as the right setting to thank the job done by Cuban journalists, producers, specialists, radio and TV directors in promoting his work and helping him reap success in the course of the past ten years.

The one-and-a-half-hour-long concert featured some anthological pieces from his repertoire, including blockbusters and a couple of new songs that will be culled in his new album –already in the works. This young musician, who is keen on standing up for the values of Cuba’s popular dance music, has garnered followers not only on the island nation, but also in several countries around the globe.

Teeming with positive vibes from the moment the band struck up, coupled with professionalism and great stage control, this special concert was swarmed over by members of the main digital press, radio and TV stations in Havana, who actually shook a leg to the beat of Maykel y su Salsa Mayor.

This is one of the large-scale performances conducted by Maykel Blanco on the heels of his successful Europe tour, where he rolled out his latest audiovisual work, Cerrando Filas, a DVD that contains the 10th anniversary concert held last year.

The worldwide launch of Cerrando Filas, that occurred last March, took place in Havana by Artex’s Bis Music record label, while Planet Record did it in the same breath on the marketing online platforms. The big break of the DVD in the Cuban capital was a smash hit as all copies were sold out in a single day.

In South America and Cuba, the album is sold by Artex’s Bis Music. For the rest of the world and on the Internet, Planet Records is the exclusive distributor.
