Mazatlan Announces Upcoming Bird Festival
Mazatlan announced the inaugural Mazatlan Bird Festival, set to take place Jan. 16 to 19, 2009, at Hotel Playa Mazatlan, Mexico.
Featuring four days of wildlife tours, educational workshops, renowned birding experts and artistic exhibits, the Mazatlan Bird Festival celebrates the ecological diversity and preservation efforts of this major tourism destination.
Situated along Mexico’s pristine Pacific Coast, Mazatlan is home to more than 500 bird species, including 35 indigenous varieties. During the festival, guided birding tours will offer up-close views of elusive species in their native environments.
Visitors can choose day trips or multi-day circuit tours that include the Tufted Jay Preserve, the scenic hillsides of Cosala, Bahia Santa Maria, Playa Ceuta and Meseta de Cacaxtla Natural Protected Area, a nearly 124,000-acre reserve.
