Medical Technology Fair in Havana

Experts and professionals in medical technology from some 30 nations are gathering this week in Havana to open the Ninth International Fair Health For All at the PABEXPO Fairgrounds.

The tradeshow suits the island to a T within the framework of both the reshuffle and overhaul of Cuba’s health care system that embraces the refurbishment of medical facilities and the introduction of new equipment.

The largest representations are those of Cuba, Spain, Germany and Italy, with the debut of Russia, Latvia, Hungary, Sweden, Turkey and the United States.

Some of the newest gadgets this time around are a SCAT scanner and a magnetic resonance equipment made by German company Siemens.

The fair’s first edition harks back to 1983. Since then, Health For All has been garnering international recognition with each passing year.

The event is held every other year with a view to let experts, physicians, paramedics, medicine students and the general public learn about the development of this Cuban industry and its major research centers, as well as about the latest technological advances foreign visitors have to show.
