Mexico Ready to Flex Ecotourism Muscles at ExpoAventura
Mexico, one of the world’s richest countries as far as natural beauties are concerned, is getting all set to show off its ecotourism potentials at the upcoming Seventh ExpoAventura, an event scheduled for June 3 to 5 at Mexico City’s World Trade Center.
According to Wendy Hesketh, president of the Mexico Association of Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism (AMTAVE), the ecological segment is catching on rapidly right now and demand for this kind of travel is soaring.
Mrs. Herketh noted there’s increasing interest worldwide in supporting that kind of travel niche since the World Tourism Organization declared 2002 the International Ecotourism Year. “In addition,” she added, “Mexico has what it takes to advance this travel segment.”
In line with this growing trend toward ecology-oriented trips, Mexico has been home to a number of training courses on the matter and had developed a good deal of institutional and community programs all across the country aimed at leveraging that awareness into a broader travel activity.
