Miami Heats Up in June with CHTA’s “Taste of the Caribbean”

Culinary aficionados head to Miami to learn the tricks of the trade while 10 teams from the Caribbean battle it out during the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association's (CHTA) annual “Taste of the Caribbean” competition.  The event showcasing Caribbean cuisine will hit the sultry hotspot June 22-26, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency, Miami.

Taste of the Caribbean, organized by the CHTA, is a competition-style event that showcases the region's best chefs, pastry chefs, junior chef's and bartenders with the ultimate crowning of “Chef of the Year,” “Pastry Chef of the Year,” “Junior Chef of the Year” and “Bartender of the Year.”

This year, Taste of the Caribbean features 10 teams vying for top Caribbean culinary honors.  Competing teams hail from Anguilla, The Islands of The Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Curacao, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and United States Virgin Islands. Taste of the Caribbean's annual event offers an opportunity for food and beverage staff to network, polish professional skills and cheer on colleagues in competition before a large audience of industry peers and consumer culinary enthusiasts.

Taste of the Caribbean features an educational component for competition participants, CHTA members and Caribbean governments which highlight some of the latest culinary trends and topics.  

Taste of the Caribbean is offering a tradeshow which provides a one-stop forum for gathering practical information, sampling, purchasing, strengthening established supplier relationships and meeting new vendors who are on-hand to help registrants build their food and beverage business as well as yield benefits for their bottom line.
