Nevada Commission on Tourism Launches LGBT Website
The Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT) has launched a website aimed at the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. The site, www.GayTravelNevada.com, offers information on LGBT-featured events, as well as on Nevada’s hotels, shows and amenities.
Among the site’s features are information on, and links to, LGBT events such as Gay Days Las Vegas (www.gaydays.com/gay-days-las-vegas), Las Vegas Pride (www.lasvegaspride.org), Reno Gay Pride (www.renogaypride.com), Lake Tahoe Winterfest (www.laketahoewinterfest.com) and the BigHorn Rodeo (www.bighornrodeo.com), as well as details on LGBT-friendly hotels and events, such as Las Vegas’ Aria Resort & Casino (www.arialasvegas.com), the Artisan Hotel (www.artisanhotel.com) and the Aston MonteLago Village Resort (www.montelagovillage.com), as well as Caesar’s Palace’s (www.caesarspalace.com) “Absinthe” show.
The LGBT travel business amounts to $60 billion in the United States alone, according to Community Marketing, Inc. (www.communitymarketinginc.com), a San Francisco-based gay and lesbian market research firm. A healthy portion of that business goes to Nevada, and Las Vegas is one of the top three U.S. destinations for LGBT travelers, according to CMI.
