New Hotel Openings Announced for Puerto Rico’s San Juan

Two major hotels in San Juan have announced reopening dates: Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort on March 1 and El San Juan Hotel on Oct. 1.

Following a multimillion-dollar renovation to repair hurricane damage, the 400-room Wyndham Grand Rio Mar will offer new menus at the new Caicu Rum Bar, the Marbella restaurant, Palio Italian restaurant, Hole in One at the golf course, 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, Barista Café, and Tiki Hut and Pool.

To celebrate Puerto Rico's recovery, $1 of every room night booked by guests for March and April will be donated to the El Yunque Rainforest Restoration Fund, with the goal of raising $10,000.

The 388-room El San Juan is undergoing a renovation of guest rooms, oceanfront villas, pools, public spaces and landscaping. The property has been hosting groups of first responders and aid workers following Hurricane Maria.
