Opening Date for Moon Palace Jamaica Grande Pushed Back Again

Palace Resorts has moved its opening date for the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios to April 11.

The resort originally had been scheduled to open in February. That date later was pushed to March 1 and now to April.

Delivery delays in obtaining materials for the resort were cited as reasons for the date changes.

Guests holding reservations prior to April 11 have the option of rescheduling to a later date, staying at a nearby property or at one of Palace Resorts' seven properties in Mexico, according to Kathy Halpern, Palace's vice president of sales and marketing.

Moon Palace's inaugural celebration is set for May 6-9. The event will feature a performance by Jamaican reggae singer Shaggy on May 8.

The 700-room resort, on the site of the former Sunset Jamaica Grande, was acquired last July by Palace Resorts, which launched a multimillion-dollar renovation and expansion.
