Over 140 contracts signed in 2003 ExpoVaradero Tradeshow
The 2003 ExpoVaradero Tradeshow rolled down its curtain following four days of frenzied business negotiations that churned out 144 contracts for a grand total of $2.5 million.
Attendants also inked 63 letters of intention and cut four joint-venture deals, the president of the Organizing Committee Felix Garcia said during the closing ceremony of this tradeshow that seeks to come up with import alternatives in the realm of tourism.
Both the value of the signed contracts and the number of participating companies from four of Cuba’s provinces that showcased their products were far larger than the tallies scored in last year’s edition. These figures lay bare ExpoVaradero’s ever-growing importance as a major tradeshow. More than a thousand businesspeople from the leisure industry walked past the fair’s turnstiles this time around.
The exhibiting stands that took the lion’s share of awards were TecnoAzucar, Bucanero Brewery, Los Portales S.A., and Cubanita, from Victoria de Giron Citrus Fruit Co.
Quality prizes were also doled out among ten sampled products, including the electrolytic solution presented by Rayonito Co., the mineral water bottled by Los Portales S.A. and the frozen orange juice canned by Heroes de Playa Giron Citrus Fruit Processing Plant.
During the closing ceremony, planners called on attendants to come back for the seventh edition of the tradeshow in October next year at the Plaza America Conference Center.
