More than 450 exhibitors from as many as 30 nations have confirmed their attendance to the 23rd Travel Marketplace of the National Travel Agencies Association of Colombia (ANATO is the acronym in Spanish), said Omar Riveros, head of mass media and public relations for the event’s organizing committee.

Mr. Riveros explained the marketplace, scheduled from Feb. 23 to 25 at the Corferias de Bogota Fairgrounds, is destined to become Latin America’s premier square for travel and tourism-oriented business operations.

This time around, Panama will be the guest country and its delegation to the marketplace will be headed by Panamanian Tourism Vice Minister Dalel V. de Sanchez and an entourage of high-ranking officials.

Moreover, Panama will showcase its superb cuisine and traditional dances in an effort to promote its top recreational destinations to the rest of the participants.

Mr. Riveros noted there’ll be tourist delegations from Argentina, Aruba, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, the U.S., the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, among many others that will put their latest and most attractive products on display.

The fair will also serve as the perfect setting for advertising and selling Colombian destinations. With that aim in mind, Mr. Riveros confirmed that the host country will have over a hundred stands and 45 exhibitors from local tour operators, wholesalers, the National Tourist Promotion Funds with its departmental and municipal offices in tow, and hoteliers.

In order to paint a brighter picture of what Colombia has to offer, Mr. Riveros announced the presentation of an interactive CD produced by the Bogota Business Center, an institution that seeks to bring travel investments to the Colombian capital.

As to the top attractions of the local leisure industry, Mr. Riveros pointed to adventure tourism (canoeing, rafting, cave exploration, parasailing and others) as a modality that’s building momentum all around the world and for which Colombia is outfitted with great conditions, especially in terms of natural scenery.
