More than a dozen nations will participate in the Fifth International Wine Festival scheduled from Oct. 13 to 15 at Havana´s National Hotel, the flagship lodging of the nation´s capital.

The initiative is bringing together an increasingly larger number of cellars, salespeople, experts and journalists as Cuba continues posting even bigger numbers on the board as far as top-quality tourism is concerned.

Havana´s National Hotel -declared a National Monument and featuring the very best services money can buy in town- is the undisputed venue for this kind of meeting, organizers of the event pointed out.

Damian Fuentefria, the establishment´s top executive in charge of banquets and big-time events, indicated there´ll be attendants from Chile, South Africa and Europe, among other regions and countries.

This time around -he added- will mark the debut of CubaRon S.A., a marketing company from the island nation, and five other firms: Albur S.A., Freixenet, San Cristobal, MCI and MFI.

Planners are expecting a turnout of approximately 300 people, including exhibitors, experts, traders, sommeliers, bartenders and member of the press.

For three days, the National Hotel´s 1930 Hall will harbor the stands of all participating firms, while the Vedado Hall will gather attendants for debates and special presentations.

Opened in 1930, the National Hotel is the island nation´s number-one lodging facility, a condition that´s highlighted at a time when Cuba sports over 40,000 rooms in several top-notch establishments.

Major political personalities and celebrities have checked in there since the foundation of the hotel that´s blessed with a breathtaking view of beautiful Havana.

The lodging is also home to a number of major events organized by tour operators, economists and foreign delegates.

Cuba´s Wine Sommelier Club came into being in 1995 with a grand total of 100 members from all across the island nation. These experts -hailing mainly from the city of Havana- have great expertise in the wine industry business.
