In an effort to boost tourism in both countries, Peru and Cuba signed an agreement to establish a cooperation and collaboration framework for tourism-related matters.
A Letter of Intent was signed between Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva and his Cuban counterpart Manuel Marrero.
Aimed at ensuring competitiveness and sustainability, Peru and Cuba will promote experience and technical-assistance exchange on cultural tourism development.
It also establishes the exchange of sector’s professionals, with the aim of developing training programs, as well as promoting mutual cooperation at the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and related organizations.
Peru-Cuba tourist flow will also be promoted by the initiative. The aforementioned document also seeks to facilitate and encourage the participation of public-private sectors’ representatives in seminars, conferences, forums and high-level meetings.
Finally, the said authorities agreed to share experiences on tourism promotion and to consolidate urban-cultural and gastronomic proposals by both countries.
