Presentation of the cultural product in 23rd Tourism Convention

Within the framework of the 23rd Tourism Convention, Cuba’s vice minister of Culture Ruben del Valle unveiled Tuesday the island’s cultural product before an audience that included such outstanding Cuban intellectuals as songwriter Chucho Valdes, Miguel Barnet, Jose Loyola –deputy chairman of Cuba’s National Writers and Artists League (UNEAC), Jesus Ortega, founder of the Cuban Guitar School, painters Choco and Manuel, and writer Waldo Leyva, among others.

In the early going of his speech, Mr. del Valle mentioned the upcoming Culture and Development meeting, one of the country’s major cultural events, that this time around will embrace all artistic expressions and artists in an effort to weigh the current cultural situation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Cuban Vice Minister extolled the tremendous success achieved by the culture-tourism twosome when he said: “We can’t fail to mention the scope and extent of the joint efforts made in the country, always nicking better results with each passing day.”

Following the presentation of a video made by the Cuban Institute of Filmmaking Industry and Art featuring all main events scheduled for 2004 –more than 60 in all- Mr. del Valle wrapped up his presentation by stressing on the importance of the upcoming International Jazz festival, the Caribbean Festival, the Pepe Sanchez International Troubadour Festival and CUBADISCO.
