Puerto Rico’s International Tourism Expo 2016 Kicks Off

The second edition of the International Tourism Expo of the Caribbean is scheduled to be carried out through May 14, in San Juan de Puerto Rico, with the presence of representatives from over 20 countries and all sectors of the travel industry.

ETI 2016 (International Tourism Expo 2016) is the most important tourism-related event in the Caribbean region. Over four days, all parties interested in fostering and selling tourism products in the Caribbean will gather in Puerto Rico to attend a unique global business event. That’s the place where the world comes together in the Caribbean.

ETI-Puerto Rico’s program comprises lectures, seminars, excursions and social events aimed at strengthening business networks and contacts among members of the international travel industry. The guest speakers will be giving lectures on how to make the most of market trends and the importance of customer service. As for exhibits, nearly one hundred local and international companies from all sectors (gastronomy, luxury, wedding destinations, nature and adventure, cruises, among others) are going to share information with over 200 travel agents.

Special emphasis is being placed on tourism segments that are key elements to the region, such as: wedding destinations and couple trips, LGTB, adventure, luxury tourism and eco-friendly and sustainable tourism.

"ETI 2016 in Puerto Rico is a key marketing event that provides a space for travel agencies, tour operators, suppliers, advertisers and other sectors of the Caribbean travel industry to seat down and do business. The event is organized by Puerto Rico in a bid to create interaction and alliances among destinations and partners of the industry at global level. By raising awareness on the diversity of offers available for travelers, we boost the economic growth and, therefore, the quality of life in the region,” the Executive Director of Puerto Rico’s Tourism Company, Ingrid I. Rivera Rocafort, said.

Spanish Tourists: Key Actors in the Development of Vacation, Corporate Segments

Spanish tourists are one of the most important visitors in Puerto Rico, right behind the United States. In 2015 the island nation’s hotels reported a +87 percent increase in the number of Spanish guests. Puerto Rico presently has non-stop flights operated by two Spanish airlines. Starting on May 15, Iberia is set to reopen its operations on the island with a Madrid-San Juan route, three flights a week. This route is going to complement Air Europa’s, which over the past 2 years has offered 2 weekly flights and it’ll go up to 3 in summertime. With both offers, Puerto Rico is going to welcome six weekly flights during the summer high season.
