Q & A with Anita Borsje, Sandos Hotels & Resorts Executive based in Palma de Majorca for the European and Russian markets
As a new player working with the Russian market, Sandos Hotels & Resorts is betting on these travelers with a strong offer of hotels located in Mexico and Spain. The recently finished edition of Otdykh and Leisure fair helped the company getting a little bit closer to that market.
How is the Russian market doing for Sandos, and what destinations have had better performance?
I’ve been just working in the Russian market for six months. I went to Moscow trying to gain any tour operator and I got several contracts. Now, two of the main tour operators of that country have started selling us. We’re at the beginning of these operations, but we predict a good future as we offer a product the Russian market might like.
How many hotels does Sandos manage and where are they located?
We have two five-star hotels in Riviera Maya. We have another facility in Lanzarote, Playa Blanca, the Sandos Papagayo, though it doesn’t work the Russian market. And we have the brand-new Sandos Monaco, in Benidorm.
How many rooms do you count on?
We have some two thousand rooms in Mexico, 488 in Lanzarote and over 200 in Monaco.
Do you work directly with any tour operator in Russia?
Yes, SIT & T Travel, Caribbean Club Travel and South Cross Travel.
What season of the year do you sell the most? Do you also market Spain or just Mexico?
We’re present in every market, selling in Spain and all over the world. Even in Mexico, that country’s national market is quite important for us. We’re in England, Germany and other countries in Europe.
Sandos group is owned by Spanish capital, would you give us a closer look at its composition?
Sandos belongs to a Spanish group, and besides the hotels we have another chain named Marconfort, which counts on ten facilities, two of them in Torremolinos, six in Benidorm, one in Ibiza and another property in Lanzarote.
